Greve De Lecq: When the tide is out, you can see lovely sandy beaches, caves, and waterfalls. But we didn’t time it right, instead we had fog, and the tide was too far in to see the waterfall, etc. Sigh!
Durrell Wildlife Park: Durrell Wildlife Park began as the first ever conservation-themed zoo. 50 years later, Gerald Durrell’s animal haven is the natural place to discover some of the world’s most incredible creatures.
Over from St Helier is a castle that is on an island, it is called Elizabeth Castle. We had to go over on an amphibious vehicle as the tide was in, and the causeway wasn’t uncovered. While we were there, they fired the cannon.
While in Somerset, we had a little trip to Langport to see Muchelney Abbey. Interesting ruins of an abbey destroyed by the king. Then next door to that was a tiny little church to look around. Finally there was the Priest’s house that was across the road.
