Canyon Tour – Zion National Park – Utah

Finally, Zion NP. We didn’t hike into the park, it was just a case of driving through, and stopping every so often to take photos.

Canyon Tour – Grand Canyon South Rim – Arizona

Now we come to the Grand Canyon. There are some panoramic photos on another post. These are normal pictures…

Canyon Tour – Antelope Slot Canyons – Page, Arizona

Here we go! I have always wanted to see the Slot Canyons. Well this trip we made sure we got to them. Well worth seeing, even though it does cost some money. They are run by the Navajo Tribe, the guides are good too. At one point he told me to drop my tripod legs and he would clear the people so I can get a clear shot. What a nice guy. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the 11:30am tour. This one would have shown the light beams but at the 1:30pm tour, the light had moved. But even so, they are spectacular. Well worth seeing at any time.

Canyon Tour – Horseshoe Bend – Page, Arizona

Here’s some pics of the Horseshoe Bend in Page… It got a bit scary to take the pictures. The wind was blowing hard, and you kind of had to wait for the wind to die down before getting close to the edge to take the picture…

Canyon Tour – Bryce Canyon/Glen Canyon Dam

We took a trip to see some of the Canyons close by to where we live. This day we saw Bryce Canyon. The red/orange rocks here are very unique, and have taken millenia to be shaped the way they have been with snow and ice melting on the rocks, for over 250 days a year.

Macro Shots, Water Drops, Glass Shooting

Doug, Rusty, Jeff, Wit and I got together for some fun…

Utah Gymnastics II – Red Rocks vs BYU

Another visit to the Red Rocks! This time against BYU. I tried the techniques I picked up from last time, like shutter faster than 1/350, Hi Speed Shutter, F/2.8, etc. This time I took nearly 2,200 pictures, and only about 10 were throw aways. Much better. I am only posting a small selection of the 2,200 pictures, thankfully, I hear you say.

Mountain view from home

This is what I can see from my house, but of course, I am using a 70-200mm with a 2x Teleconverter, plus the camera is a 1.6x crop, so I can actually photograph more than the eye can see…

Utah Gymnastics – Red Rocks vs Aggies (Utah State)

So, Fitz invited me to go see the Red Rocks against Utah State. It was my first time to try to photograph sports like this, and learned a lot. Firstly, RAW, and shutter speed less than 350 just doesn’t cut it. Next time I will do it differently. Also High Speed Shutter would have been a good idea. Well from this small sample of my photos you can get the general idea.

Park City, Olympic Village

Some kids we saw skiing. I was very impressed. Can’t ski myself, but these kids were cool. This is one of the locations that the 2002 Winter Olympics took place. The luge, and other events were done here.
