Syon Park – Lighted Enchanted Woodland

Today at Syon Park their Lighted Enchanted Woodland was lit up today. It was lovely. Definately worth a look. But if like me you want to take photos, there is a mile and a half of path to walk along, and stopping to take long exposures, you soon run out of time. We only had an hour and a half, but we ended up being pushed along as we were taking too long. This is only on for 3 weekends, so if you plan on seeing this, you’d better get in quick.

Red Deer in Bushy Park

I have been planning a trip to Richmond Park to see the deer, but decided to head to Bushy Park instead. I am glad we did, as the colours were lovely, and we saw a great herd of deer, and you could tell which was the head buck. It was difficult choosing the pictures for the web site but here’s what we have chosen. Hope you like them…

Winkworth Arboretum

Wanted to see more Autumn colours, so we took a trip to the Winkworth Arboretum. This is well worth a trip. Loved the colours. Some trees had lost their leaves, but some hadn’t turned yet. But I can’t grumble as to the scenes we saw. I hope I’ve done it justice with these pictures. There’s one picture that is a panorama of 12 pictures, but it will be downscaled for the web. I am really quite pleased with that one. But there’s others where the colours are much better.

Guy Fawkes

Well, almost. Guy Fawkes night is normally November the 5th. Remember, Remember the 5th of November, Gun Powder, treason and plot. The full verse is below… But, there was a firework display and bonfire at Watford on Saturday the 2nd of November. Here are some photos that I took from the even.

5th of November Verse:
Remember, remember!
The fifth of November,
The Gunpowder treason and plot;
I know of no reason
Why the Gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot!
Guy Fawkes and his companions
Did the scheme contrive,
To blow the King and Parliament
All up alive.
Threescore barrels, laid below,
To prove old England’s overthrow.
But, by God’s providence, him they catch,
With a dark lantern, lighting a match!
A stick and a stake
For King James’s sake!
If you won’t give me one,
I’ll take two,
The better for me,
And the worse for you.
A rope, a rope, to hang the Pope,
A penn’orth of cheese to choke him,
A pint of beer to wash it down,
And a jolly good fire to burn him.
Holloa, boys! holloa, boys! make the bells ring!
Holloa, boys! holloa boys! God save the King!
Hip, hip, hooor-r-r-ray!
