Back in the dim and distant past… Yes, there is a past, at least there’s more of a past in the UK, and there was in the USA… LOL.. Anyway, here I am talking about 1605, on the 5th of November, a chappie by the name of Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament with several barrels of gunpowder. Of course he failed, and was captured, and tried, then hung, drawn and quartered. From the following year onwards, us Brits seems to commemorate the event, by putting straw or paper into clothes and make an effegy of Guy Fawkes, and put him on a big bonfire and set light to the bonfire, and burn him all over again (don’t see many bonfires these days though), then we light fireworks…
There’s a saying/poem that goes with it too…
Remember, remember the 5th of November,
Gunpowder, treason and plot
I see no reason why gunpowder, treason
Should ever be forgot….
Now, for the night itself, I took my tripod and camera, and guess what? The tripod broke, well the tripod head. Grrrr…. I couldn’t see the problem in the night, and there was no time to go home and get another, so I had to hand-hold the camera for the pictures… These below were 5-10 second hand held pictures. They are not as crisp and sharp as they would have been with a tripod, but I think they are still worth posting.
